The ministry of BCF

The mission of BCF is to provide in-depth biblical discipleship materials and training to support churches and mission organizations in discipling and counseling others. Our main focus is in supporting pastors and church leaders in “equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ ….” (Ephesians 4:12). If you’re new to BCF, this site will provide you with a brief orientation on how to plug in. If you’re already familiar with our ministry, you will be able to directly access the resources and materials to continue on.

see the    overview    below or here to go directly to  materials

BCF’s biblical discipleship training begins with the Self-Confrontation course. The Self-Confrontation manual is an in-depth study of biblical principles for daily living, providing hope and practical application for even the more difficult problems of life. The companion Student Workbook is designed to lead you through the key biblical principles lesson-by-lesson, step-by-step. An Instructor’s Guide is also available. Self-Confrontation teaching videos are available on-line for use either by small groups or individually “at-your-own-pace.” There are multiple ways to take the Self-Confrontation course, as described below. The Self-Confrontation manual has 480 pages of Bible study material, but don’t be intimidated. The course itself probably covers 10 percent of the material, but the rest is available as a “life-application biblical resource” covering many topics more in-depth, including how to biblically deal with specific problem areas. The boxes below describe different formats for using Self-Confrontation, followed by short descriptions of BCF’s other booklets for small group and personal Bible study. You can see a complete description of the Self-Confrontation manual, Student Workbook, and supporting materials here:

FORMATS FOR USING SELF-CONFRONTATION

Study With Others

An ideal way to take the Self-Confrontation course is to study in a small group or Sunday School class at your church. Some churches may have someone who is familiar with the class and could be the leader or teacher. The companion Student Workbook is designed to lead the class through the key biblical principles lesson-by-lesson, step-by-step. A Leader’s Guide is also available. Some small groups use the Self-Confrontation videos, available from BCF on-line. The 480-page Self-Confrontation manual has a ton of material, but don’t be intimidated. The course itself probably covers 10 percent of the material, but the rest is available as a “life-application biblical resource” covering many topics more in-depth, including how to biblically deal with specific problem areas.

Study on your own

You could actually take the class as a Bible study on your own. The Student Workbook can lead you through the sections of the Self-Confrontation manual, drawing on the same biblical principles and scripture references as covered in the in-person or on-line class. This also enables you to go through the course at your own pace.

Take an online course

This option is very popular and similar to studying on your own, except that you would have access to the on-line videos from an actual BCF-taught class. It is basically the same study as you would get from going through the Self-Confrontation manual as guided by the Student Workbook. In fact, most summers we offer an option called “BCF Summer School,” where you can just take Lessons 1-12 or 13-24 on-line. That way you could take the entire class over two summers.

If you want to “dip your toes in the water,” so to speak, you could try our 7-lesson booklet called “Living Victoriously in the Battles of Life.” This booklet provides an overview of the first 8 lessons of Self-Confrontation, covering biblical principles of living the Christian life even when you are going through difficult times. It does not get into addressing specific problem areas, but lays a strong foundation. It is great for a 2-3 month small group study, one-on-one discipleship, or studying on your own. It will whet your appetite for more.

In-Person BCF classes

Occasionally, BCF teachers may be invited to teach at a specific church over a weekend (Friday evening, all day Saturday, and Sunday afternoon). With the proliferation of on-line options, this has become less common, but it could be an option for a concentrated teaching of Lessons 1-12, for example. You would need to call the BCF office to see if this would be a possibility.

RELATED RESOURCES, AUDIO/VIDEO, AND BOOKLETS

You will see on our Materials page that there are multiple resources that support our core Self-Confrontation manual and Student  Workbook, to include booklets for small-group Bible study and one-on-one discipleship. Here is a quick look at these resources and links to more information.

The Victory Over Failures Plan (VOFP)

The VOFP is included in the Student Workbook, but is also available as a stand-alone booklet. It is a biblically-based tool that can help someone who is struggling or just wants to grow in their faith to overcome any difficulty of life with the full expectation of complete and lasting victory. To live victoriously in a lasting, fruitful way, we first need to see how we have failed to live God’s way, hence the phrase “victory over failures.” (Link to VOFP)

Bible Studies & Booklets

BCF has multiple Bible studies and booklets that can be used for small groups in a local church, for individual study, or one-on-one discipleship. The booklets have Scriptures to look up, questions to answer, and teaching on powerful principles of living from on God’s Word.

A NOTE FOR PASTORS &
MINISTRY LEADERS

As noted earlier, the purpose of BCF is to support the local church with materials and training in biblical discipleship and counseling. It is God’s design for the church that the “saints be equipped for the work of service,” which is a primary task of pastors and teachers. BCF can provide materials and training to help you in doing the equipping. It is a beautiful thing when potential problems in families or churches can be avoided or addressed because “the saints” are equipped to deal with them through God’s all-sufficient Word being applied in the power of the Holy Spirit. Many people in your assembly want to be helpful in this way. And the BCF materials and training can help support your ministry from the pulpit and further the development of a loving, serving, problem-solving body of believers. Please explore the various materials available on our site or call or email the BCF office: 760.347.4608 / admin@bcfministries.org.

Live, On-Line Teacher Training Class for Self-Confrontation Starting Late September

Beginning in late September, BCF will be offering a weekly Zoom class to provide teacher training for those interested in teaching Self-Confrontation classes in their local church or ministry. The Lord intended for local assemblies to be the primary way in which to equip the saints for the work of service and for mutual encouragement (Ephesians 4:12 and Hebrews 10:25). So training up local teachers has always been a primary emphasis of BCF. We can take up to 30 students, and the class will be held over approximately 16 weeks. Registration for the class is now open.
